HISTORY

Radio W.A.B.O.S. has a long pedigree of internet and " other " radio stations leading up to it's current incarnation. Initially part of Urban Supplment Radio, then a show on KBFR , and then finally merging with Ninja Strikeforce Radio ( cDc ) before going solo.

Radio W.A.B.O.S. was born of a comment made by a listener when it was incarnated as NSF radio. One night while listening to an hour of offensive audio & goth music the comment " What a bunch of shit! " was made - and thus the radio station was named.

The WABOS.NET domain was lost to a squatter circa 2001.

PROGRAMMING

Radio W.A.B.O.S. has hosted numerous styles of music, spoken word and sociological commentary. While DJ Delchi is best known as a Gothic DJ, the music played on W.A.B.O.S. has stretched across several genres of music and is only limited by what is contributed. Spoken word commentary is provided by Dj Delchi when the mood strikes, and can range on topics from the person who cut him off on the drive to the studio, to something seen on IRC moments previous. Many times topics heard on the podcast MY PEE SMELLS LIKE HAM at Clickcaster are replayed. Classical radio theater & drama also sneaks into the playlist , as well as made from radio comedy from the 60's & 70's such as The Firesign Theater and The Frantics.

Over the years several programs have been broadcast on W.A.B.O.S. , each with a unique theme and sound.

Over the years several people have made station IDs for WABOS such as Bernie S. , Weld Pond ( L0pht Heavy Industries ), Swamp Ratte ( Cult of the Dead Cow ), Emmanuel Goldstein ( 2600 Magazine ), Valsmith ( Offensive Computing ), Sketchcow ( The BBS Documentary ), as well as regular listeners.

Radio W.A.B.O.S. studio 2003

The W.A.B.O.S. studio is a comilation of hacked together hardware and software that Delchi ahs collected over the years. The primary box continues to be a computer taken from a dumpster in New Jersey in 1998.

While some web radio stations rely on MP3 playback, Dj Delchi often mixes like using a Pioneer CMX-3000 dual cd player, various tape playback devices, minidisc , and vinyl.

A series of wireless microphones are placed in the studio for guest use, in the official W.A.B.O.S. catbox, and the studio bathroom.
