A glory hole is most commonly used to refer to a small hole cut into a dividing partition between two people for the purpose of anonymous sex.

Glory Hole Locations

The most common location for a glory hole to be found is in the dividing partition between stalls of a men's restroom. Popular locations are rest areas along the Interstate Road System, and college libaries.

A glory hole may also be located in the dividing partitions between movie viewing stalls in a pornography store. Depending on the level of concern brought forward of the helath department or law enforcement where the pronography store is located a glory holes may be temporarilly removed or covered.

A private glory hole is a glory hole erected within a private space such as an apartment or home where people are granted a limited access for the purpose of utilizing the glory hole.

While in popular culture it is assumed that any refrence to a glory hole or activities involving a glory gole are inherently gay , is is not unheard of for women to be on the other side of the glory hole.

Several web sites exist with listing of glory holes, as well as reviews & warnings about the locations. The most common complaints are unfriendly staff, police raids, or various complaints about the people who frequent the location ( Too old, uninterested, ugly, racial concerns, prostitutes , etc ... ).

Glory Hole Etiquette

Like most underground social situations, there is a unique language for communicating while at a glory hole. Due to the nature of the enviroment and it's taboo nature the most common language is a silent one consisting of hand gestures and facial expressions. While most of these indicators are common to flirting there is a subset of hand signals that carry a specific meaning, and are commonly understood between glory hole users.

One Finger

Placing one finger though the glory hole indicates that the person wishes to place their sex organ through the hole and have it serviced by the person in the adjoining partition. If this is acceptable to the person in the adjoining partition the finger is gripped then released, otherwise it is left alone.

Two Fingers

Placing two fingers through the glory hole indicates to the person in the adjoining partition that you wish to recieve their sexual organ. the person on the opposite side may place their organ on the fingers allowing it to be guided through the hole and then stimulated by various means. Alternatively the fingers can be removed to allow the person in the odjoining partition to self guide their organ through the hole.

Looking

Looking through the hole to see what is on the other side is considered ok for a moment or two, but extended viewing may offend the person on the other side if they do not want to be watched. In some cases this is because they want to do their business in peace because they have someone else in the booth with them, or are just uncomfortable with someone watching. Note that while looking it is a good idea not to get too close to the hole itself in case somehitng is poked through the hole and into your eye.

The Palm

A plam placed flat against the hole is the universal sign for 'no thanks'. This also can be done with other objects that form an accepted indicator fo ' Do Not distrub '.

Open Face

When the face is pressed against the hole in such a way that the mouth is open and the tongue is clearly seen through the hole. This is a clear indicator of willingness to recieve.

Negotiation

Rarely, people will attempt to communicate through the hole to establish interest, specific likes/dislikes, or other messages.
